In 1998 Dr. Pickens established Mountain Regional Ear, Nose and Throat to provide care to the entire Western North Carolina Region. Dr. Pickens is Board Certified and has been practicing for over 20 years.

Margaret joined our practice in 2015. She has several years of experience practicing audiology in ENT clinics, helping people with their hearing and balance concerns. In addition to working with several ENT offices, Margaret has also spent time as an educational audiologist and in a retail setting, evaluating hearing abilities and fitting aids.


  • 1992: M.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Radford University in Virginia
  • 1984: B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Communications from Malone University
  • Currently pursuing a Doctorate of Audiology through A.T. Still University School of Health Sciences

One of the greatest privileges in Margaret’s life includes traveling to the remote mountains of Honduras on multiple occasions to volunteer her audiology expertise. This includes assessing hearing levels, implementing a self-sustaining program for distribution of new hearing aids, and providing follow-up care. For four years, she served as a judge for Sertoma Intl. and Oticon Hearing Impaired, awarding scholarships to hard-of-hearing and deaf students. Margaret has four surviving children; in her spare time, she plays classical piano.
