If you are experiencing dizziness or vertigo, a VNG test may be recommended to help determine the cause. VNG stands for “videonystagmography”. A VNG is a painless, sophisticated test of the balance portion of the inner ear and its connections to the brain and eyes. Special goggles record eye movement in response to a number of stimuli to the eyes, inner ear and brain. Inner ear or central nervous system disease often causes abnormal eye movements, called “nystagmus”. These movements are detected during the VNG exam, which will help to localize and determine the cause of your dizziness or vertigo. We are happy to be able to offer this state-of-the-art diagnostic tool conveniently in our office.
